What size solar panels to use?
Looking to add solar charging for my 5th Wheel. Looking at 100W panels and 200W pannels. I am leaning toward the 200W panels so that I can get more wattage for a smaller footprint. Is there any advantage to going with 4 100W over 2 200W other than the size difference of the panels?
Initially, I am going to use them as ground panels since we are looking at trading our 5th wheel for a newer model.
Sometimes with 4 smaller panels versus 2 larger, there are more options for placement on the RV roof but more wiring is required. If parallel wired and one is shaded you would only lose 25% of power versus 50%. That's a couple of things I can think of. So sort of depends on the roof layout and if you camp a lot under trees where shading may be an issue.
