Maybe a foolish question, but can you use a 30 amp surge protector at a 50 amp RV site with a 50 to 30 amp adapter cable ?

I've done it often at my friend's house. He has a 50 amp RV outlet for guests that visit. My rig is 30 amps, so we use a 50 amp to 30 amp adapter. My surge protector isn't bothered by it at all. No error codes.

Frank your 50 to 30 amp adaptor only gives you on leg of the 50amp plug giving you only what you would have on a 30 amp plug. shouldn't be a problem with your surge protector.
