Saw this news clip about getting your Code 7 house trailer endorsement in BC

B.C. couple were forced to leave their recreational trailer behind in Arizona after they discovered they needed to upgrade their B.C. licence.
It’s an ICBC safety requirement for any fully-loaded recreational house trailer that weighs over 4,600 kilograms GVW (the combined weight of the trailer and its load).

Yes. If you are a B.C. resident with a B.C. drivers license, you must get the endorsement in order to haul a travel trailer or 5th wheel over 4600 kg.

This is not new. I am not sure when it became a requirement, but it was definitely before 2008 when friends first started snowbirding and he knew he needed his endorsement for the 5th wheel they were buying.

Many people are either unaware or choose se to ignore it, considering it a “money grab”. However, it is every bit as important (No matter our opinion) as having a Class 1 to operate a semi tractor/trailer or a motorcycle license to ride a bike. Hauling without the endorsement should you require it, is in effect, driving without a license.

If you are properly licensed in a different province or state, this is of no concern.

I know that about ten years when working. We were required an ICBC code 7 license to tow a trailer behind my work truck. They called it an enhanced class 5 license at that time .

This also applies in Saskatchewan except that it's call a "G" Heavy Trailer endorsement.
