Ray in your video of this mod it seems like you didn't use butyl tape, just silicone between the adapter plate and the trailer and the provided rubber gasket between the receptacle and the adapter. Have you had any trouble with it? Has anyone else had an trouble with this kit? I just bought it and will be installing it once it arrives (well I have to paint it black first) and wanted to be sure not to destroy my trailer in the process. Thanks for the help everyone!!!

I thought butyl tape would be a little thick for the flush-mount, silicone worked fine, no leaks. In hindsight, I would have likely used Geocel Proflex instead.

I wonder if this could be used instead of Dicor? (Not that I dislike Dicor- it's great stuff as well, just curious).

If mean instead of Dicor self-leveling lap sealant for the rubber roof seals then Geocel is not a replacement for that, their website states: Do not use on extruded polystyrene insulation sheathing (Styrofoam, etc.), TPO, or EPDM. https://www.geocelusa.com/product/pro-flex-rv-flexible-sealant/

All done!!!! Wish I had painted the adapter ring as well. I might pull it off and do that if it bugs me enough. Thanks for the reply Ray.fu22pkon3nhka8ng.jpg

Thanks for all the comments everyone. So far I love it, I really wish I had done this mod sooner. SOOOOO much easier to use the plug this way. I highly recommend this mod to anyone on the fence.

I seen the smart plug and switched to it instead of that type.
