Took a day trip up Highway 1 on the California coast yesterday from Santa Cruz to Half Moon Bay, loved it! Stopped in at Natural Bridges State Beach and saw clusters of Monarchs in the Eucalyptus Grove and the namesake beach. Rock was loaded with pelicans. Then we meandered up to the famous Mavericks surfing beach checked that out before a seafood feed at a local eatery called Sams. Good day. :) Will have video footage out soon

So far I've filled at $3.69, and $4.10 and now at a casino with $3.39 so in close to cities it's around $4 out in the rural areas closer to $3.50

I grew up just over the hill in Redwood City. Been to Sams a few times. Great pics!

Nice! We have friends that just moved from Hollister over to Scotts Valley to a retirement type community with modular and park model homes but has 5 RV hookup sites for guests, so made a nice stop so close to the coast. :)

Hard to find camping in the area. There is an RV park right there in HMB harbor but it's pricey and book in advance. If you come back through in the future give Barbara's Fish Trap a try. Originally we wanted to buy a retirement home in this area but sheesh the pricing is out of our reach.

In this video, we take a day trip from Santa Cruz to Half Moon Bay on the Pacific Coast Highway (California Highway 1) Highlights include footage from Natural Bridges State Beach and Pillar Point home of the famous Mavericks Beach. Maverick is famous for its extremely large surfing waves.

Great video. THIS is why we have a hard time leaving CA. The stretch of HWY 1 between San Francisco and Santa Cruz is remarkable no matter how many times you visit. The coast is rugged and the surf dramatic. My Parents took us to the coast to beat the heat on summer days and my father and I used to dive for abalone along the less treacherous sections.

Back when we were kids camping along the coast wasn't so hard. The smell of the salt air and the sounds of the big waves breaking on the jagged rocks is bliss.

You really capture it well. :)
