Nice day with low wind and around 20C 68F, so we checked out a desert oasis located between Pahrump and Death Valley NP today called Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge. Not much wildlife this time of year, and the vegetation is mostly still in a winter state, but the natural springs were interesting to see. Due to the white limestone rock, they have a beautiful; aquamarine coloring and are home to tiny pupfish.
My new Ford finally got here ! The chip shortage had caused a delay. They suggested I not add too many options or we'd have more delays due to the supply chain.
Got my eye on a 43' DRV Mobile Suite. It only weighs ~24k #'s. That keeps me in the 10-15% range of weight ratio. I figured the truck has to be less than 2500#.
Blooming desert. Took a drive out to the California Poppy Reserve in Antelope Valley near Lancaster, CA, yesterday. Not as good as the 2019 visit, which was a banner year but still very impressive!
A couple nights ago, on the Campbell River, BC estuary. Panorama view from our summer RV site. The tide was high, and the winds were calm, making for a pretty reflection view at sunset. You can see why we come back year after year.
This happened at a high tide when we were anchored at Rebecca Spit in Quadra Island, BC. Must have been a high high! A ton of logs came off the beach. The next morning they were gone.
Sea Lions hanging out on a navigational marker commonly called the red can off the southern tip of Quadra Island, BC. In the distance are the BC coastal mountains. The one that looks like a hat is Mt. Doogie Dowler about 56 km away (35 miles)
Photo from the other day of beautiful Discovery Islands, BC scenery. We were cruising northward between Cortes and West Redonda Islands in Lewis Channel. Busy patch of water this time of year.
Early a few mornings ago, sunrise at Octopus Islands Marine Park, near Quadra Island. The BC forest fire smoke has made its way out to the coast, creating an eerie scene on the water.
We explored Philips Arm on the BC coast in the boat the other day, and Anne spotted a bear on the beach. Turned out to be a grizzly! Our first spotted from the boat. Uploading a new video soon with some footage of the sighting.
