    I have a 2000 watt (4000 peak) inverter and 4 led acid golf cart batteries(wired in series & parallel) with 300 watts of solar. If my batteries are at 100% can I run my 900 watt 12 cup coffee pot with out hurting my batteries. Thanks Don

    Yes that is very doable. Make sure the battery cables and the cables from the battery to the inverter are sized correctly. Should work great!

    Should work fine if like Greg says the cables are size right. I tested my Instant Pot 700 watt draw on my 4 GC batteries and no problem - https://www.loveyourrv.com/instant-pot-boondocking-power-draw/
    A good idea would be to get a carafe or thermos so the coffee maker element isn't cycling to keep the pot warm.

    I seen that video and I told my wife that. She was very happy. That is why I tried the coffee pot. I was just worried, when the coffee pot was running I seen my battery monitor drop from 100% down to 52% fast. But when I unplugged the pot, the monitor jumped back up to 89%. Should I not worry about the sudden drop. I have 2 awg cables and the inverter is 19 inches from the batteries. again Thank you for your help. Don

    It's quite normal. When lead-acid batteries are under heavy load the voltage sags but once the load is removed they recover. The only real way to know the capacity is to let them sit for a few hours unloaded and then do a voltage measure or take a specific gravity measurement. That's why a battery monitor that keeps track of total in and out current via a shunt is desirable. It can estimate the total amp hours remaining.

    Your cabling is good for that load. :up: Accurate shunt based battery monitors have come down in price and will be a much better way to determine battery state of charge. Something worth considering.

    Bought and installed that monitor this spring, unfortunately haven't hit the road yet. Seems to work well, the only down side is the short data cord and my limited skill set so it's currently mounted in the from storage compartment.

    We have a Black & Decker under cabinet mount coffee maker. (I can’t remember how many watts) The original was a glass carafe and we only had 300 watts solar with an 1800 watt Xantrex inverter converter. We could make coffee (and yes, there is a draw on the batteries until it’s done and shuts off) but once done, we’d shut it off and pour the coffee into a thermos.

    Then we added more solar for 500 watts. That was much better, but the coffee maker died, so we got another, only this one came with a thermal carafe. That’s the perfect solution when on solar because once the coffee is done, you can shut it off and the coffee stays warm.

    Since then, we now have a 2000 watt Xantrex and another 195 watts solar, so coffee is a piece of cake . I have also used my Duo 7 Instant Pot in solar. It draws while coming to pressure and then uses very little. If you add hot water rather than cold to the pot, it lessens the draw.

    If you can add another 200 watts solar, you will find it makes a huge difference. We were happy with 500 but added the extra this past spring as pre-Covid we had planned to go across Canada and spend a month or so on Newfoundland, where we had been warned about fog or overcast.
