    WOW!!!

    We are loving Wyoming. The State Parks we have visited
    are very well run, clean and affordable.

    Our first spot is a little jewel called Medicine Lodge Archaeological Site . Beautiful park along Medicine Lodge Creek. Almost every site is along the creek. There are exhibits and evidence of mans existence here going back 10,000 years including a long wall of petroglyophs. Very cool place.

    Today we arrived at Buffalo Bill State Park along the Buffalo Bill Reservoir and Dam. Vast sweeping views from our campsite. The town of Cody looks interesting and we have plans to visit the Buffalo Bill Cody Museum tomorrow. Today we visited the Dam visitor center. Free and quite interesting learning the history of building at the time the worlds tallest dam made with unreinforced concrete. 1904. The project was a debacle of sorts but finally was completed 5 years later.

    In our search for a new sticks and bricks Wyoming has definitely got us thinking.

    Greg, we love Wyoming, too. But on our terms. There is a reason so few people live in Wyoming, despite its natural wonders. The winters and the wind can be brutal. That being said, we spent a couple of weeks there last February which included camping in Yellowstone (we have a four season capable rig) and we’ll be back in mid-October to trace the Oregon Trail.

    As it happens, we’re crossing over to Cheyenne, WY from NE at “sparrow fart” in the morning, following I-90 on our way to Seattle. Yes, it’s windy but the scenery is spectacular. We’re not finding much public camping along the interstate, but we did score a great Boondockers Welcome spot near Cheyenne for tomorrow and will just wing it from there. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Cheers to all!
