In this video, I give you a look at Haloview's new flagship RV rearview camera system and install it on my Cougar fifth-wheel trailer.
*Fair Disclosure* I received the Haloview RD7R kit free of charge as a review sample. I’m also a Haloview affiliate making a sales commission on referrals.
The RD7R kit comes with 4 wireless cameras, a big 7" display, and all the accessories, mounts, and hookups to install it. There are 2 side-view cameras, a rearview camera, and a 4th camera that can be used for a door security or something else. Also included is a repeater box that extends the rear camera range/signal strength via a 12-meter cable.
The side and rearview camera mounts come with built-in LED marker lights making installation a snap. They simply replace the existing RV running lights and utilize the same power wiring.
The 7" display can be powered by the vehicle 12VDC cigarette lighter socket or hard wired in with a supplied cable. Also included are various vehicle mounting options including a custom rearview mirror mount.
The installation of the new Haloview RD7R cameras kit went relatively smoothly for me. I had it up and running in a little over an hour or so. I've had good performance out of other Haloview products tested and expect the same with this system, but will hold off on my review for now. I'll wait a bit and use it on a few camping trips and come back with a review video in around a month's time.
In this video, I update you on how my new Haloview RD7R 4 camera system has worked out for me. I have some updated information on the open holes in the marker lights and recording multiple camera streams. I also display some recorded footage from a recent RV camping trip. Footage includes in town, highway, and backing into the campsite. And, I show you how the system could be set up for RV security.
Hi Ray, instead of drilling holes in the back of the RV and running wires across the roof, I'm thinking about putting the license plate camera on and running the antenna wire along the frame. Do you think i can still get a decent view of whats behind me? My rear marker lights are indented so I can't use that camera.
Yep, should get a pretty good view as the cameras are wide-angle. The only thing you might give up by having the camera down lower is seeing the traffic behind the vehicle that is behind you.
Here is a view of a camera I tested one time that I had position down low at the back of the rig. It will give you an idea
