In this video, I take you along on a day trip to scout out our next camping spot. We have heard great things about Cave Creek Canyon on the eastern side of the Chiricahua Mountains in Arizona.

Cave Creek Canyon is part of the Coronado National Forest and has several campgrounds. https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/coronado/recarea/?recid=25328

One called Sunny Flats is available to RVs but has a 28-foot limit. Our Cougar fifth wheel is right around that but thought it prudent to drive the truck in first for a look see.

Glad I did, because even though we may fit length-wise, I would not want to chance it height-wise. The road in is littered with low hanging branches and large tree trunks jutting into the narrow roads.

Talking to the visitor center ranger and some fellow RVers I was recommended to Rusty's RV Ranch about 20 minutes away. We scoped it out and booked ourselves a dry camping weekly rate of $70. We will day trip in and out of the Cave Creek Canyon.

Rusty's has lots of pull thru full hookups and has Passport America discounts, so around $15 a night with PA - http://rustysrvranch.com/rates.html

The canyon landscape is magnificent and chock full of wildlife. A birders paradise with many uniques species. The Cave Creek Canyon is often referred to as "Arizona's Yosemite Valley" It also reminds me of Zion NP in Utah.

During our brief visit, we hiked up the short 200 yard Vista Point Trail. Gorgeous! It was enough to wet my appetite for more hiking, and there are tons of trails to chose from. Stay tuned for a full video documenting our visit.

Moved a couple of hours east today and landed just inside the Land of Enchantment, New Mexico. Setup at Rusty's RV Ranch in the dry camp area, 70 bucks a week, not bad. Going to use it as a base station to explore the east side of the Chiricahua mountains, specifically Cave Creek Canyon area.
