We bought two Panasonic HomeHawk window security cameras and have been very happy with them overall. We have one mounted to the large rear window of the fifth wheel and one to the large side window. One unit has stayed mounted with no problem even though that window (the rear one) gets blazing sun all afternoon. The side window unit, even though it gets less direct sun, will not stay mounted to the window. We've tried cleaning the window with alcohol and remounting... that lasts about 30 minutes. We've moved it to a different (also pre-cleaned) window, same problem. We've resorted to taping it to the window with Gorilla Tape, which we have to remove and replace about once a week. My husband has looked online and can't see an option to buy a replacement of just the window-stickum part. Any suggestions? It's frustrating that an otherwise functional (and expensive) system can't work because of this one part being a dud. Thanks! -- Mary
I ditched using the suction cup and decided on a permanent place to mount and have used the little strips of 3M tape that came with them stored on the back flap.
Just a quick follow-up: it stayed up until just a few minutes ago, when the entire big sticky pad stayed on the window but dumped the unit itself. So, it worked for 9 days and then failed differently.
Once we get to our own property for the summer, we'll probably just go ahead and mount it with the 3M tape like you did. But it would be great if they could fix the suction cup problem so the permanent mount was not the only viable option for full timers.
