We just returned from Kodachrome Basin State Park in Southern Utah. It's a wonderful place to spend a few days with great scenery and hikes. The campground felt nice and roomy because we were the only ones there the first few nights. LOL The last night we were there the occupied campsite population rose to three :-) However, even if it was full, the campsites are well spaced with plenty of vegetation to provide privacy. Campground views are outstanding and the stars a night were incredible. Most of the hikes in the park are under 2 miles and there is one that is 3-6 miles depending on how far you go. You can easily walk to most of the trail heads from the campground. All of the hikes provided lots of beautiful and varied views. The trails were pretty muddy and icy and a little slippery because of the recent weather though. We missed out on 3 great hikes in the area because the dirt roads leading to the trail heads were closed due to mud, so darn, I guess we will just have to go back!

Gorgeous place! Have fond memories of our visit way back in the spring of 2012. The Utah State Parks don't get the fanfare of the National Parks but are some real gems.

Looks pretty cool. Added to our list of places to check out on a future trip!

We tried stopping there in October.. drove all the way out to discover the dreaded ‘campsite full’ sign. We were a little tired and cranky by then too, so we never went back. Stayed in Red Rock instead.

We stayed one night several years ago - they only had one site left for one night. It was gorgeous and is on our "return to" list.

Nice photos. We've tried to get there for years, but it is usually closed when we are in the area due to snow and other bad weather at the high elevation. Maybe next year!.

We were there a few years ago, last minute decision. There were no sites available except the group site, and since no one had reserved it, we were allowed to use it. Really great campsite, wonderful bathhouse, beautiful scenic hikes. Would camp there again!
