I have a 2019 Dodge Ram pickup, when I start the truck the running lights come on, but not the trailers.i have checked the trucks female pig tail plug in and none of the clips that are for marker lights are hot.i have to run with the head lights on to have the trailer marker lights come on, have checked the trucks settings no luck.any ideas out there
The law in Canada is to drive with running lights on during the day . This is usually only in the front of the vehicle not the back. So no need to have the trailer lights on during the day. But if your vehicle is equipped with auto light then the trailer lights should turn on at the same time.why would you want the trailer lights on during the day?

A lot of people have side and/or rear cameras that they use while driving or use to record like a dash cam. The cameras get their power from the trailer lights.
I always tow with all my lights on, don't see any reason not to. Better visibility is always a good thing in my mind. For a short time, we tow. It's not like it's going to affect bulb life that much.
I have as well but have modified my rearview camera to connect with on board power so that i can have it even when not connected to the tow vehicle. Along with any other outside cameras but i do remember having to turn on the lights to activate the camera
I like the Canadian regs regarding day time running lights, and as a licensed motorcycle rider, appreciate being visible to some of the clowns out there who "didn't see" the high profile, large trailer pushing a white pick up down the road. I now turn on my lights fully when towing, just to be sure the blind drivers recognize they are seeing two vehicles coming toward them. "Whatever it takes" is my towing motto.
