Greetings All,
I have a 2017 Riverside TT with a 13,500 Dometic Penguin II AC. The unit began acting up in April and would not blow cold air. I replaced the easy items- Capacitor and Hard Start. Coils are spotless and the filter is clean.
Well, now the unit will blow ice cold air but only when I crank the thermostat all the way to cold. (it's a non ducted system with no heat).
I can turn the system on and "feather" the thermostat control and the compressor will kick on and cool but when the unit satisfies the setting it will just blow air and I have to go back to feathering the dial.
Sometimes the ac will sound it is not getting enough power but will recover and go back to full power.
Additionally, I have noticed the unit is not really doing a good job dehumidifying the coach.
It has enough refrigerant to cool effectively but won't function without my constantly adjusting the thermostat. (the thermostat is just a round dial on the ceiling unit).
I have discovered the possible parts to replace such as thermostat are sitting off on the water Savanah or Los Angeles and not available. Ugh.
So, any other ideas from this fine group of RV'ers? I can just replace the entire unit for $1200 and call it a day.
I'd rather solve the issue but Mrs. A is becoming fatigued of my quest.
