Ran out of gas last night. Changed over this morning and now the hot water tank doesn't work. It tries to ignite and when I try to light it with a lighter still no go. What I discovered there wasn't any gas coming through. I have gas at my stove and my fridge has gas. Any thoughts?
I had that happen once and it was a faulty valve in one of the pigtail lines between a tank and the main regulator, seems they have a safety valve built into them.
It would supply low flow loads like stove and fridge but not water heater or furnace.
One tank would work and one wouldn't, that's how I isolated it to the pigtail on one tank, ended up replacing the both crappy OEM pigtails with some quality Marshall brand and never had an issue since.
The LP gas sales guy showed me how the Marshall hoses had a beefier valve mechanism versus cheaper ones the OEM put on.
Maybe yours just got stuck briefly.
Also I’ve found sometimes if you turn a propane tank on too quickly you’ll lock up the gas pressure regulator. I’ll have to turn the tank off, disconnect the line then reconnect it and slowly turn the tank valve on to reset the regulator.
In looking at my tanks I observed one hose was not as large in diameter as the other and it was the tank with the larger hose that the problem occurred when I switched over. Any how I am going to check out the hose you referred to.
