In this video, I list my top 10 most used upgrades we have made to the OEM hardware that came with our 2011 Keystone Cougar fifth-wheel trailer.
These are items that I would want to have in any new RV that I purchased based on our almost 9 years of full time RVing experience. Hopefully, it can be of help to new RV owners whether the rig is new or used.
See more in-depth information about each of the upgrades listed by visiting the links below. Cheers! Ray
Really good info, Ray!!! Thank You for posting this!! We are new to trailering!!! We have a 2008 Rockwood 5th wheel, 30 foot long. Pulled with a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 with all The applicable towing upgrades....we were wondering how long is your rig? Hopefully we will be heading out on a short maiden voyage! thanks again!!
We just installed the RVDoor lock. The company had a 30% off sale but it appears that's over. Amazon has them for about 40 bucks less than direct from the company so not quite as cheap but not too much difference. It looks like they are in stock and ready for fast delivery. Rumor has it they do the 30% off again around Thanksgiving. They did charge $10 for shipping Amazon is free.
Below is the link to Rays Amazon store for $199.99. Well worth it IMO. Along with this we added a hide-a-key box under the trailer with the mechanical key for the lock and the key that opens everything else. It will be nice not worrying about remembering to take keys along with us when we go out for hikes or even working on it around the house. Wife is super happy! Amazon link
The install was super easy, the quality looked good to my somewhat discerning eye and the instructions are very simple and easy to follow as well. Everything needed aside from a screwdriver is included, even batteries. Programming it was a breeze. So far definitely :up:
Ray, thanks for the initial review and the 2 year follow up.
