In this video, I unbox, install, and demonstrate the new Akaso DL12 Rear View Mirror Dashcam. I then take it for a little drive and let you see what the real-life image looks like plus the front and rear video footage.

Honestly, I like a lot of things about the Akaso DL12 dashcam. It packs a great deal of technology in a relatively inexpensive package. I found both cameras produce sharp, clean footage. The 12" displays touch screen is a cool feature to have and works quite well.

However, when using the DL12 in my 2018 Ram truck, there are just too many reflections interfering with in the view. Also, when off and using as a mirror, its less clear than my OEM mirror and has a blue colorcast.

So for my vehicle, its a dud, but your mileage may vary. I could see it as a viable option for people with a limited rear view or none at all. Or, if in your vehicle, the lighting is different, causing fewer reflection issues.

- Video resolution is nice and clean, good looking recorded footage
- Comes with GPS dongle for positions and vehicle speed
- Parking monitor with G force sensor for security footage
- Touch screen settings and views swipe
- Large 12" display with wide-angle views
- Holds onto the mirror well
- Economically priced
- Long 12V power cord

Dislikes:
- Too much reflection impair the video display view
- Not a great mirror when the video is off
