Shark Bite Fittings for RV Plumbing Repairs?

    Recently I have to repair a leak in my RV fresh water piping and was having a hard time finding the OEM replacement part. So I decided to remove and redo a section of piping with Shark Bite fittings and steel braided hose.



    Shark Bite connectors are super convenient to use as they just press-fit to the PEX tubing and can even be removed with a little tool. However, I've read mixed reviews about them. The repair went well and no leaks or anything but thought I'd get your opinion. Cheers, Ray

    I've used them with good results on a toilet retrofit a couple rv's ago and keep a couple fittings with me in case of emergency.

    I suspect you will have no issues with your repair.

    Depends on the amount of space you have available. Sharkbite are convenient and easy to work with if access is an issue.They are an expensive alternative maybe cheaper now I used them a few years ago on a job and was very impressed with the results. Regular pex fitting and crimps work great and cost a lot less as long as you can get the crimp pliers and give it the squeeze to secure them together into the area you are working in.

    I moved the RV water filter and pump to a more convenient location using shark bite fittings....so far, no problems, easy to install !

    I used the braided tubing with a shut off connector when I installed a new toilet. It's been several months without issues, and the shut off valve has proven helpful. Word of caution: I apparently didn't initially have it fully seated and had a pretty good leak, but pressing it further onto the pex pipe stopped it.

    I just used the Sharbite EVOPex fittings when I installed my new faucet. I've used them in my home for years and have yet to have one fail. Makes DIY plumbing projects much easier.
