Some of you guys have asked for pictures of construction on our "Mobile Homestead'.
When I uploaded the file thay got out of the construction timeline. I'm sure you can figure it out, so here you go.....
She is a bit heaver than a typical 5th wheel RV, but we don't have to worry when the wind hits us broad side while hauling down the open road.
I think my truck can handle it....................................
More than likely. I saw the Volvo in the beginning. I was just curious about the weight (trailer )) with the construction methods I observed in the photos. My guess is, it must be
substantially heavier than most production models. Class 8 is the only way to fly with that type of home.
I'm assuming that there are two slide outs, one on each side, from the frame with two big gaps in the walls and the framing around that section in the finished pictures. Did you use standard slide hardware or did you do a custom installation? Pictures?
My wife was also impressed except for the small windows! She loves windows and light. Our unit has standard sliding glass doors with a slide out patio. Her chair is positioned right next to them.
Small windows are more efficient (Definition of a window: a hole in the wall that the wind doesn't blow through!) but dark rooms give my wife the willies.
Howdy!
Thanks for the kind words. We have not finished the slide-out's because of budget has slowed us down a little. We hope to get more solar install jobs in the near future so we can get her finished 100%.
As for the small windows, we have (3)- 2'x4', (5)- 2'x3', and (2)- 10"x24" windows. That is somewhere around 28ish sq-feet of glass. The 9' ceiling kinda makes the windows look small. Ray has come over many times for Coffee (for Me)/Tea (for Ray). He can tell you how bright it is in our Mobile Homestead. Also with the awning style windows we get a wonderful cross breeze, witch keeps the rig cool in warmer weather with out having to use the A/C unless it gets to humid out.
Happy Trails!!!
