Our new 5th wheel had no water filtration system as some newer models do so I wanted to add one. I also wanted to enclose the open side of the wet bay.
Here is what they look like when they come from the manufacturer.
I found a filter on Amazon that had decent reviews. I was going to go for the Clearsource system Ray has reviewed and uses but the dimensions didn't work out for the space I had.
I used some sheet aluminum that already had a nice white finish I found on Amazon Here
Using aluminum angle from the hardware store for framing and some redwood to space the filter out to meet the water inlet on the Nautilus water system allowed a direct connection to the rv water hose inlet.
The filter elements can be swapped easily in place. Overall I am pleased with the result. I may still add a better filter under the kitchen sink for drinking but this is a big upgrade to those blue inline Camco filters we have been using for years.
Yes, here is the complete set up with 90, pressure reducer, water meter and dust plug. The door shuts with a small gap. We also mounted some hand sanitizer and a small bin to store disposable gloves after dumping.
That’s a great set up. Water neater is a good feature. I have one to know how much a put into the tanks when traveling. Next trip I may leave it on the city line to see how mush we use. I would like to build something like this but can’t put rioters in the wet bay. They will have to be in the main storage area. Thanks for the ideas. Happy Camping
Thanks, I ordered a second meter that will attach to the black flush. This will let me fill the black tank without worrying I will overflow it while I am dumping.
That is certainly fancy and I won't ask about your episode :scream:
The one on Rays amazon store is unavailable so I went with this which looks like the same thing and matches my fresh water meter. It looks like it may be hard to read up against the wall. I saw a post where someone added some fittings to turn it around. I will update with my results. It should be here soon.
Wow, when can I hire you to do my new rig? That is too cool for school. Could you post some pics of the backside / outside of the compartment to show how you created the new wall? Great job!
I ended up replacing the camco pressure reducer which had poor flow with a better unit and added a second meter on the black flush with allows me to add water to the black tank from the outside in known quantity for both flushing and adding 3-5 gallons to the black tank after flushing.
