In this video, I demo and then install a Go Power! TS-30 transfer switch into my 2011 Keystone Cougar fifth-wheel trailer. I'm using the transfer switch to automatically and safely transfer input power between my Safari ME portable power station's 2000W inverter output and the 30 amp shore power when I plugin at a campground.
By having my inverter output connected directly to the RV 30 amp input, I will be able to use all the AC outlets when dry camping and run my fridge off AC power instead of propane when we are towing.
We also installed a transfer switch for the fridge while traveling long hours. I don't travel with propane on and it's a good thing because we already broke the propane line under our 2019 trailer.
I installed the WFCO T-30 transfer switch to the panel.
Yikes ! broken propane line, that's not good. Hope your able to figure out how that happened. Many years ago my parents borrowed my 5th wheel and had a tire blowout near Yuma. The tow truck driver said that from the damage it caused it was lucky they did not have the fridge running on propane as it ripped up the underbelly right next to the copper line. I got a nice new set of tires out of that one :)
I learned a very important lesson from my Father's experience !
I Broke the flimsy propane clamp and with the already low axle travel distance (pipe installed above axle u-bolt)... my axle u-bolt hit the pipe. I had the dealer change the copper and the way it was installed. Known problem on the Forest River Forum.
Since I run the inverter for the fridge I check the pipe before I turn on the propane.
