And so it begins after a 1 1/2 year break we are back in the USA. Breezed across the border yesterday afternoon with no issues aboard the Black Ball Ferry to Port Angeles, Washington along with a boatload of other happy RV snowbirds. :)
Made it to the coast today after a free overnight in the Port Angeles Walmart then another in the Little Creek Casino parking lot. Landed at the Quinault Beach Resort and Casino over on the WA coast. It's 10 bucks a night Sun to Thursday dry camping right near the ocean and 20 Friday and Sat. Should be some good storm watching so have booked 3 nights.
We returned to one of our all-time favorite US states today. The great state of Oregon! Headed down the gorgeous coast once again, a very familiar drive for us that never gets old. Here is a pair of today's dashcam shots of the Astoria–Megler Bridge that spans the mighty Columbia River separating WA and OR. Lots of clouds but at least the rain held off for the most part.
Welcome back Ray! Arizona has beautiful weather right now, Phoenix- mid 80's during the day and low 60's at night. Are you going to check out the sandhill cranes in southern AZ? I took my grandsons to Kartchner Caverns last year, has a really nice campground similar to Lost Dutchman. Safe travels.
We are headed out this Sat. 20th for our winter home at Kartchner Caverns State park.. Be there until first of April..
Rjack10 did you guys go into the caverns? What did you think?
Safe travels! Looking forward to future travel videos! We're planning to make that coastal drive from Seattle to California in March. Campground recommendations are always welcome!
After a week of clouds, wind and rain, we finally got a calm sunny day that always makes the HWY 101 trip worthwhile. Here are a few dashcam shots from today's sunny drive down the Oregon coast.
Oh man, I'm a few days late to this party. Just saw the horrible weather that you just missed Ray and Anne. So glad you are several days' safely south of all that terrible stuff up north. Welcome back to the states. We're glad you're back. And safe.
Yeah, looks like we got south just in the nick of time! We had a huge rain day on the WA coast in Ocean Shores but on good drainage ground, no flooding, and since then it's been pretty typical west coast in November. Tillamook had some bad flooding last week but looked OK when we drove through today.
Welcome back to Oregon. We love our state, but sure have had the rain this year! South Beach is such a nice campground! Looks like another sunny day today before another deluge. We look forward to heading south in January. Thankful you get to be back on the road!
Not a bad day on the Oregon Coast for November. The sun even peeked out at times. Here are a few shots from a walk around South Beach State Park near Newport. Beautiful campground, tons of walking paths, and a vast empty beach to enjoy.
Perfectly sunny day today on the Oregon Coast. A real treat in November. So we headed out and checked out the Yaquina Bay Bridge and Yaquina Head Lighthouse. Here are a couple of teaser photos. I have great video footage to put a video together with in a few days. :)
Last night's sunset shot from a campsite at a marina on the Oregon coast. So many cool ducks and other ocean birds there that Anne just had to haul out the big lens! She was pumped to be so close to some male Hooded Mergansers. Nerd.
Made it to California. Over the I5 hump between OR and CA and down into the valley. Been a while since we felt 20C+ temps and low humidity. Feels good. Free camped at a CampingWorld. Well sort of, I'm sure I won't be able to resist a peek inside the parts store. ;)
