In our new to us cougar fifth wheel, the bedside wardrobes come all the way down to the floor which means there is no place to put your phone or a book or a glass of water beside you. We are planning on putting nightlights with USB for plugging in our phones at night but are thinking of a mod for the books, reading glasses etc. Phil is thinking of cutting into the wardrobe and inserting maybe an open shelf/compartment, and then putting a trim around the cut edge. wondering if anyone has tried something similar (and results or suggestions) or what have others come up with to make a space for storage beside the bed?

We had a trailer that did have an opening at the bottom of the bedside wardrobe. When it was cold outside we had a water fall effect, the warm air would rise and push down the cold air. We had to stuff a pillow in there to stop the chill. I later made a sliding panel from some door glides to keep the cold air in the closet.

Our trailer has a shelf that runs along the closet wall just high enough that our heads don't hit it while sleeping. The shelf is just wide enough for a water bottle, phone, etc..
