22’ Cougar and a new F150 to pull it! Wife and I and the two dogs couldn’t be happier. Thanks to all for the advice so far, especially for getting an appropriate tow vehicle. Any other words of wisdom, don’t forget items, and pearls of knowledge are certainly appreciated. See you out there somewhere soon!!
Sweet. The best advice I can pass along is don't be in a rush and be extra careful when tired, Most mishaps happen when one or both are at play.
Enjoy!
Congratulations, I remember that feeling. Just a suggestion. I have a check off list when hooking up the TT that includes a small did I ..... list on my console before I pull away. You would be surprised how many of us have driven away with an antenna left up. Its not a long list but it is your final safety check that will give you peace of mind.
It's that last walk-around, looking at everything on the truck, trailer, and campsite that makes all the difference! I've left plumbing hardware, leveling blocks, and tools by not heeding my own advice. I've left campsites with the swing-out handle on my trailer left out, and my extended mirrors left in! I once saw a small motorhome driving toward me on a campground road with its awning out! Please make that one last walk-around part of your normal routine. Oh, and always check the tire pressure on all vehicles before rolling out. Its so much easier to change a tire in the campground than beside the road! OK, I'll stop being your grandpa now. :-)
Buy a designated cordless drill. You’ll use it a lot, including every time you put your jacks down. Also, purchase a roll of eternabond tape. If you never need it great. When you do, you’ll smile when you reach for it and fix the only thing that can really ruin your camper....water leaks. Congratulations. You’ll have so much fun!
