  • Yipee! Just bought our first travel trailer!
Buy a designated cordless drill. You’ll use it a lot, including every time you put your jacks down. Also, purchase a roll of eternabond tape. If you never need it great. When you do, you’ll smile when you reach for it and fix the only thing that can really ruin your camper....water leaks. Congratulations. You’ll have so much fun!
  • Extended warranties
I’d like to chime in here. I owned a 2015 Rockwood minilite. When I purchased it used we got the extended warranty through USATravel Care. It was a 5 year warranty. I ended up using it twice in the two years we owned the camper. I had a $50. Deductible, and the first time I used it was for a slide issue (ground wire default) that otherwise would have cost a fortune. The second issue was during the first trip of last spring when I opened my hot water tank valves and the valve cracked open. I had no hot water on an April camping trip. This would have been a 5 minute fix if I could get to it, but after bloody knuckles and a miserable day, the area was so tight I couldn’t get to it. The warranty covered it ($50. Deductible at the selling dealer) and they had to take a bunk down and a wall, something I wouldn’t have wanted to do myself. When I traded the camper in for a new Jayco, I purchased this same warranty again. It offered me lots of piece of mind after my first experience, and it covers mobile rv repair if needed. Here’s the link to what we bought. We bought the platinum both times.

  • Stabilizer Jack Grease
We just bought a brand new Jayco Whitehawk. I asked the head of service what to use to lube the slide gears and jacks and he said WD40. This sounded really cliche but he said it doesn’t attract dirt and should be a regular part of maintenance. I will probably try it on two of the jacks, and crc power lube on the others and make a choice from there.
  • Keeping your Dog Quiet at the Camp Ground- best e-collar
It is frustrating, but I think everyone appreciates your effort to curb the behavior. Whether I like it or not, some people aren’t dog people, and constant barking can make a person crazy!
  • A little about us
Very cool story! Your last statement about introducing a young family to a lifetime of RVing is right on. We keep inviting our different groups of friends when we travel, hoping to hook them into RVing. Many are starting to look for their "first" camper! Thanks!
  • RV Surge Protectors
Thanks to all for your feedback. I was leaning towards the progressive industries 30 amp and I’ll probably stick with that choice.
  • A little about us
Welcome! People who have owned the multiple types of RV's have literally seen it all and probably experienced it all. I look forward to your expertise on the forum.
