Here are a few photos from our January 2024 camp not far from Ajo, AZ

  • Beautiful! We drove by Ajo 5 years ago on our way to Organ Pipe.

  • Beautiful pics. We spent a couple weeks near Ajo a few years ago while wintering down south and really enjoyed it.
We also spent some time at Saddle Mtn. I was wondering if you have been there recently or know if the area is still inundated with FLIES ( thanks to the com'l chicken farm nearby)!! They were just UNREAL and made it nearly impossible to enjoy being outdoors.
    Thx.

It was still really bad last winter so haven't bothered to return this winter. So far I haven't talked to anyone this year that has been there to see if its still bad.

  • We went down there last year and loved it. We will be heading there in a few more weeks, hopefully.

  • We really loved Ajo. Definitely plan to return there.

We are camped about 10-12 miles north of Ajo, in the Barry M Goldwater air range. First time here, just inside gate 15. Had to get an access pass to get the gate lock combo luke.isportsman.net/files

No charge, but you must register for the free yearly pass. Here is the online portal bmgr.recaccess.com and be ready to present to a ranger if asked. A fish and wildlife officer came by, and he said a pass on the phone is OK, but they like a printed copy in the window to make their job easier. Then check in and check out online. 14 days camping is what the rules state. Once you sign up for the pass, there is access to to maps and rules and regulations online. Cheers, Ray

We like to have a little bit of elbow room when camping. Love! Arizona

The desert was fresh for today's hike and is starting to green up nicely after the recent rains with more on the way next week.

Enough of the RV Park. :) Laundry and RV maintenance are done, and sunny skies are back, so headed back out to the wilds of the beautiful Sonoran desert once again.

Was able to sell off 7 batteries, a water filter system and a solar charger to some fellow boondockers last month so that helped free up space.

I captured this timelapse of funky cloud formations on my security cam today at our boondocking campsite in southern Arizona.

A few shots from golden hour tonight in southern Arizona. The desert lit up with a beautiful glow, and all was calm.
