RV Water pump wiring

Love Your RV & Boat!

  • I saw you upgraded your RV water pump. I bought an upgraded pump off amazon’s that is still a 7A circuit. I am messaging you to ask which wires are the power and which is ground. My wires coming to the old pump are a green wire and a white wire. I connected a two pin flat connector with the white wire to the red wire and the black wire to the green wire. My switch turns on, but im not getting any power to my pump. I’m not sure where to start in troubleshooting since I have never come across these color combinations before. Any advice would be appreciated

RV wiring isn't very standardized. But on many such as my old Cougar fifth wheel the plain white wires are negative grounded to the frame. Most of my DC positive 12V wires are also white but have a colored stripe. You can figure out the polarity of unknown wires using a multimeter. See this video youtu.be/Jrw4QYxSkYM If you have the wires connected backwards it may have blown a fuse. But with the multimeter you can check to see if there is still voltage present.

  • I had everything hooked up correctly. The two pin flat connector didn’t have any power running through it. I connected the wires directly together and everything works. Thank you for your response.
